This is a unique organization sponsored by St. Paul’s but ecumenically involved with the Leesburg community to help individuals and families who are experiencing financial difficulties by providing free housing and utilities for a limited time. Many persons find themselves in a financial crisis due to sudden loss of a job, illness or other unexpected problems. Project Hope gives them time to accumulate funds to obtain an apartment of their own. Our rent-free tenants are recommended to us by local churches and organizations and Christian Social Services of Lake & Sumter Counties. We choose people that have a reasonable chance of regaining their independence with some assistance and encouragement. Donations received from parishioners and a parish collection produce our necessary funding. We purchased a three-unit apartment complex with monies from our successful fund raisers. Our goal is to have all three apartments housing families in need.
