The Catechumenate Process

What is it all about?

Christian Initiation is a Journey of Faith for all adults who wish to become members of the Roman Catholic Church. It involves the formation of the total person into a believing, living, praying and serving member of the church community.

The four-step process includes:

  1. Evangelization/Inquiry: A chance for people to ask questions about Catholic beliefs.
  2. Catechumenate: An opportunity for participants to learn about and mature into the Catholic Faith while being guided by a Catholic sponsor.
  3. Enlightenment: A time for deep spiritual reflection during the Lenten Season. It culminates with the administration of the three Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
  4. Mystagogia: An ongoing process for spiritual growth while entering fully into the community of Catholic believers. Neophytes are encouraged to continue their journey in the Catechumenate for at least one year.

Christian Initiation is a year-round process which may be entered into at any time. If you know someone who is curious about our Church or who is trying to decide whether to become a Catholic or, if you are interested yourself in becoming a Catholic Christian, please contact me. Everyone is called: Everyone is welcome!

All In The Family

In order to provide opportunities for ongoing Lifelong Faith Formation, the parish comes together quarterly for an event designed for intergenerational catechesis.

Elders, parents and their children, young adults and teens come together for an afternoon of learning, sharing and praying. A meal is shared and crafts, music or skits reinforce the theme. Topics are based on the Liturgical year, Sacraments, Scripture, Prayer, or the Commandments.

We believe that we are indeed "All in the Family" of God. Therefore, we turn to our Faith Family for instruction and support in our role as family members and learners.

In giving attention to the individual, it should not be overlooked that the recipient of catechesis is the whole Christian community and every person in it. (Aritcle168)
